Beautiful hotel, check in a little fraught we checked in prior to 3, expected our room not to be ready however, when we returned at 7pm it took 20 minutes to find our booking? available room and case. Thepool area extremely busy with people reserving beds for hours and not using them, made worse with non residents sneaking in to use the pool and access the sea security needs improving to avoid ghosts as residents are leaving belongings next to their beds when swimming / eating.
Our experience was ok and as a family we had a great holiday. For a Rixos premium, we personally felt it lacked that premium feel that other rixos hotels have
Food amazing. Service very good Very open to feedback. Prices around pool extortionate. Pool area cramped and have to get up early to get a bed. Visitors from outside using pool and sunbeds. Gym had kids in flip flops using it until remedied. Had to remind them to fill water and towels. Room service unpredictable in quality of attention.
My wife and I had one room and our two eldest sons were on the same floor a couple of doors away. The bedrooms were good sized albeit their finish wasn’t quite up to scratch (a good example is that the left wardrobe door didn’t fully open because of the bedside table), little frustrations. Balconies are lovely with views out to the sea and pool area….the source of the key frustrations. You’re given a card to exchange for a towel each morning with clear signs outlining the sun lounger policy (e.g. no holding chairs for more than an hour etc). Warning: This is NOT adhered to. If you’ve not secured a lounger by 8:45am you’re not going to be sitting by the pool. There aren’t enough loungers for guests, this is further compounded by the hotel allowing non- guests to pay €100 for a day pass to sit by the pool. When I was at a the sports bar one night I heard a guy saying that he paid €500 for his family of 5 to stay there for the day. Day after day you’d see guests turn up by the pool with their towels after breakfast and be directed up the stairs to a poorly designed grass area with uncomfortable chairs to sit on. This “overspill” area needs a LOT of work and, currently, if you have to sit up there - like most guests will need to do until they suss out the lounger policy - it leaves a terrible first impression of the hotel. The swimming pool is small, again, too small for the number of guests at the hotel. There is also an indoor pool if you want so shade, as you’d expect this area is hardly used. I should’ve said that the restaurant area by the pool is Greek themed. Don’t worry if you fall asleep by the pool in a lovely relaxed way because at 3pm on the dot everyday you’ll be woken up with the music turned up to “Zorba the Greek, the staff performing traditional Greek dancing and plate smashing. This works well in the evening (where they do it again) but should be dropped in the day time in my opinion. We stayed for 10 days in August - peak period - so why, at 9am every day, were there maintenance staff pulling up damaged parts decking round the pool and replacing them? Drilling. Sawing. At least 45 mins every day. As well as this there were 2 music systems round the pool, one in the bar area and one round the pool itself. The music *should* be sync’d but on half the occasions these were playing different playlists at the same time which led to a horrible listening experience for the guests (imagine Rocket Man in one ear and Balearic Beats in the other). The food in the restaurants is really good. The breakfast is excellent with an omelette station, the hot breakfast area, yogurts / granola, fruit, bread / toasters, pastries, juice, complimentary fizz. Something for everyone. We ate at all of the restaurants in the evening too and the quality of food and drinks was excellent although expensive relative to comparable offerings in the Old Town. Our sons loved the table tennis and 8-Ball pool tables. The gym, whilst small, was well equipped. There is a sports bar which screens live football from around the world in the evenings which is a nice touch. The staff at the front of house and in the restaurants are friendly and helpful however I did find the staff round the pool quite unfriendly and rude, perhaps tired of the constant questions around “why aren’t there enough sun loungers for all the guests”. We enjoyed our staff but we are very unlikely to return.
Hotel inside was lovely.Food was excellent. The pool area let it down with lack of beds for all. Hotel did not stop towels being put on pool beds despite nobody on them . Late comers ended up on really poor plastic beds in a spare area with ripped umbrellas which were def not to standard.
